All Charly harnesses are available with conventional or Pin Lock karabiners. Karabiner harnesses have T-strap fall out security and seperate leg-straps, that are attached to the seating surface and ensure plenty of freedom of movement when launching.
Due to the many buckles in chest- and leg-straps operation and weight are greater than with the SIL.
Hence increasing numbers of pilots opt for the Safe-In-System.
The SIL-X harness apparatus combines the advantages of conventional karabiner harnesses with seperate chest- and leg-straps with the merits of the Get-Up-System.
The low lying chest-strap with ABS-bracing is close-fitting. SIL-X is especially suitable for slim pilots. The leg-straps run as usual outwards to the main suspension straps, from where they run upwards to the SIL.
• |
The close-fitting leg-straps do not hinder freedom of movement when launching and do not slip. An easy transition from launch to flight position is ensured. The set length is suitable for various sized pilots. Frequent adjustment is unnecessary. Special adjustment is carried out centrally below the seating surface.
• |
By contrast to the Get-Up-System the leg-straps are not crossed over by backwards launches, making launch by strong wind conditions problem-free.
SIL-D has won many enthusiasts due to it's simplicity and is suitable for heavier and slimmer pilots. Click twice and you are surely connected to harness and paraglider. When launching you will enjoy unlimited freedom of movement.
• |
SIL-D includes all advantages of the Get-Up-System, simplifies operation and reduces weight as 2 buckles (and/or karabiners) are dispensed with.
• |
Seperation from harness and paraglider after touch down with one grasp (suspension straps must be unburdened).
• |
The sensitivity of the harness to canopy collapse can be regulated during flight.
• |
For backward launch a leg-strap spreading-bar is delivered with the harness
• |
ABS adjustable (zero to moderate effect).

1 Shock absorption
Lower values by lower drop heights don't automatically mean grater safety. The deceleration values can be radically different even by minimally higher drop heights, when the shock absorption of the protector shows no more reserves. The deceleration value can quickly be twice as high leading to serious injuries.
2 Uneven surfaces
Collision seldom occurs on even surfaces. On uneven surfaces airbag protectors offer much less realistic protection than foam protectors. Airbag protectors generally make way for obstacles, which penetrate deeper into the protector. The deceleration values necessary for shock absorption are rapidly lost. Piercing occurs much more quickly and hence injuries. Flexible protective plates primarily prevent damage to the airbag and hence are not effective.
3 Safety under extreme circumstances
Even minimal damage to the outer skin or a faulty seam can limit the protective properties of an airbag protector considerably. Protective plates lessen this danger but mean additional weight.
4 Aerodynamically relevant construction height
The construction height in the seating area is decisive here. Air compression protectors strongly influence the flight characteristics of the paraglider.

Features of the Charly Scooter: |

Highly elastic neopolene foam: Even after driving over the Scooter with the DHV-test truck, we were still able to achieve positive results in the certification test. |
On the left: The fitting capability and the small weight of the Scooter improve the ground handling. |
